2010, you have been a bitch.
This year was quite the roller coaster. I turned thirty, my marriage ended (after 10 wonderful years), I quit (another) good job, I checked off a bucket list item: photographing a friend and hero of mine (Chase Jarvis), I was one of six people personally selected to attend what was hands-down the greatest instructional workshop in 2010 by another of my heroes (Zack Arias), I moved into the tiniest place I’ve ever lived (with no heat), I was devastated by betrayal and I was shown sobering love. I’ve been up and I’ve been down. There have been blindingly bright times and frighteningly dark ones.
Most notable: I stopped photographing. Depression set in, and flat gave up. Despite the peaks that followed the valleys, at some point a few months ago I just quit and didn’t recover.
The year is making its way to the door and I’m asking that it take all of my hindrances with it.
I’m picking myself back up. I’ll be hitting the photo game hard this new year.
2011, you are about to be my bitch.
<3 I consider you a dear friend.
